Job Description
We are looking for a Journey Lineworker in Limon, CO. The Journey Lineworker will provide reliable electricity to our members by maintaining both overhead and underground systems, and performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Constructs underground and overhead electrical lines. This includes digging pole and anchor holes, framing poles, setting poles and anchors, stringing, sagging, and connecting overhead conductors, opening and closing trenches, installing pad mount switchgear and underground conductor, locating underground cables, determining the locations of faults in damaged cables and performing related tasks on both energized and de-energized lines.
- Maintains substations, underground and overhead distribution and transmission lines, and other electrical system components by locating faults and repairing or replacing damaged conductors and replacing damaged transformers, breakers, regulators, insulators, meter loops, poles, switchgear, and related equipment on both energized and de-energized lines.
- Complete all necessary forms and reports required by the Association in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsible for materials, supplies, equipment, tools, and vehicle assigned. Must maintain these items in good condition. Report when necessary maintenance or repairs are needed.
- Understand and be able to follow Association operational procedures, safety manual, and policies.
- Must have working knowledge of RUS Line Construction Specifications and understand how to apply this to daily tasks.
- Must keep informed of changes in the art of the trade.
- May be directed to supervise a crew.
- Frequently performs various duties related to member service, including reading meters, making service changes, disconnecting and connecting services, patrolling line, testing voltage and other related tasks.
- Must be trained and be able to demonstrate proficiency in pole top, bucket and confined space rescue to established standards.
Requirements
- General knowledge of the electric utility industry, cooperative principles and member service procedures.
- Must be proficient at operating a computer, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, staking sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic mathematical ability such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers, fractions and decimals and the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages and ratios.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw solid conclusions.
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Must have completed a recognized apprenticeship program for Journey Lineman.
- Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Class A Commercial driver license.
