What are the responsibilities and job description for the OT Systems Specialist position at Mountain View Electric Association?
We are looking for an OT Systems Specialist who is responsible for the design, configuration, installation, maintenance, and overall support of the Association’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), and Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the planning, management, configuration, monitoring, testing and maintenance of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and support utility system applications.
- Ensures the accurate configuration of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Meter Data Management System (MDMS), and Customer Information System (CIS) data to create and provide reports and analyses for use in improving efficiency in operations and the timely delivery of the billing determinants to the billing system.
- Monitors the AMI and ADMS / SCADA systems and interfaces daily, using the head-end software program to ensure all devices are communicating and the data is being collected and imported into master record database.
- Troubleshoots issues and works with vendor’s technical support team to correct
- problems when necessary.
- Coordinate system upgrades and issue resolution with vendors, end users, and process owners, including corporate Information Technology (IT).
- Supports daily operations of the AMI, ADMS and SCADA systems, including the administration of system backups.
- Manages and maintains AMI communication nodes, such as gateways and relays. Responsible for upgrades, replacements or relocation of these devices to ensure optimal meter data collecting.
- Create and maintain documentation; observe change management principles; complete system performance trend analysis.
- Manages the read data from the AMI metering system, analyzes the data, develops custom reports, and trends and provides directions for field activity for failed meters and
- endpoints; works with all department personnel to receive usage data, alarming, issues, trending, action items information.
- Supports IT and GIS departments to develop documentation, maintain mobile devices and mobile applications related to collecting AMI data, alarming, billing data, infrastructure location information, and field asset data.
- Take a lead role on business projects as needed, coordinating with other junior team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical field. Certification or training in network administration is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience and extensive knowledge to effectively use current Microsoft Office products.
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, well organized, personable, and able to exercise discretion, and use sound judgment in dealing with people and confidential information.
- Works independently to plan, schedule, meet deadlines and implement programs and policies within a team environment.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with members and co-workers in a courteous, professional manner.
