What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional-Physical Education (SY 25/26) position at Mountain View Elementary?
SUMMARY: Under basic supervision, supervises and directs students in the physical education program. Verifies that students are completing assigned work and following directions.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assists in the design, development, and implementation of lesson plans as modeled by certified teacher. Replicates instruction provided by certified teacher.
- Maintains classroom discipline. Makes parent contact when necessary. Plans and prepares instructional materials. Provides group instructional support.
- Monitors students and verifies that they are completing their assigned work.
- Instructs classes on topics such as health, wellness, physical activity and nutrition.
- Assists with grading and entering student work, as directed by certified teacher.
- Maintains and manages classroom inventory and supplies.
- Maintains student records/attendance requirements/ and other related reports.
- Assists with all online testing, including preparation and completion, as needed.
- Assists with preparing physical environment that meet the needs of students.
- Assists with parent activities.
- Completes other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; AND Associate degree, 60 units of post-secondary coursework or passing score on a paraprofessional assessment; AND working experience with science materials or teaching; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Required Knowledge of:
- Stages of childhood development.
- District, School Board, and Department policies and procedures.
- Principles, practices, and methods of teaching.
Required Skills in:
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office, google apps and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
- Ability to model physical activities.
- Managing classroom activities.
- Supervising and instructing students.
- Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a standard classroom environment and in school fields.
- Required to assist students of various ages.
Salary : $16 - $23
