Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Microbiology Lab Assistant to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY :
Is the main point of contact for basic microbiology set up testing, directs advanced microbiology and resulting needs appropriately to MLS staff. Logs in and sets up microbiology samples in a timely manner, in order of priority, to ensure turnaround time targets are met. Tracks sample completion to notify an MLS to result in the EMR. Completes temperature monitoring and other tasks set by the microbiology lead on a daily basis. Ensures QC and patient logs are completed daily. Provide great customer service on the phone to patients, doctors and other medical staff. Works well under pressure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Adherence by staff to all policies and procedures to include the employee handbook.
Maintain effective working relationships between nursing, clerical, medical and allied health staff.

Qualifications
Education / Certification : High School Diploma or higher. Current BLS Certification. Valid driver's license.
Experience : 2 years of phlebotomy experience required.
Equipment / Technology : Experience with computers and office equipment, required.
Language / Communication : The ability to read and communicate (oral and written) effectively in English. Bilingual is a plus. Must understand medical terminology.
Mathematical Skills : General Math skills.
Mental Capabilities : Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments. Must be organized, multi-tasker, and a critical thinker.
Interpersonal : Good communication skills, and ability to work well with others. Team player and flexible.
Performance : Can work well under pressure and meet multiple and competing deadlines. Excellent customer service skills. Complete all tasks with minimal error and in a timely manner.
