Salary: $20-$24 DOE, Credentialing, and Seniority with Mtn View PA WA
Shift: administrative schedule
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record medical and administrative information in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures.
- Maintain the Daily Census Report and submit it to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Keep an up-to-date roster of residents for the assigned unit.
- Fill out resident charge slips and submit them to the Business Office.
- Answer telephone calls, page calls, and deliver messages to residents as needed.
- Maintain a current list of emergency contact numbers for your assigned unit.
- Maintain and forward daily tardy and absentee reports to the Business Office.
- Record appropriate resident identification data on medical records, wristbands, ID cards, and other required documents.
- Transcribe physicians' orders to care plans, medication cards, and treatment plans.
- Report discrepancies found in transcribing orders or charting to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Review medication cards for completeness, accuracy, and legibility.
- Chart nurses’ notes that reflect care provided and the resident's response.
- Forward diet orders or changes to the Director of Food Services.
- Notify family members of any changes in the resident’s condition.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents, including coordinating transportation and packing belongings.
- Complete necessary medical and administrative records upon the resident’s admission, transfer, or discharge.
- Forward completed charts of discharged residents to the Medical Records/Health Information Department.
- Attend facility committee meetings (e.g., Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Quality Assurance) as required.
- Assist the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse in developing work assignments and schedules.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with inter-departmental staff and other facility departments.
- Greet newly admitted residents and escort them to their rooms.
- Encourage attending physicians to document progress notes and orders in a timely manner.
- Notify family members and assist with funeral home arrangements as necessary.
- Participate in annual in-service training programs (e.g., HIPAA, Infection Control, Safety).
- Assist with the infection control program for monitoring communicable diseases.
- Report equipment and supply needs to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Ensure all care team members are aware of residents’ care plans and properly follow them.
- Report incidents of fraud, billing discrepancies, or other unethical behavior.
- Treat all residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Record and file incidents/accidents according to established policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing Services.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- CNA Credential preferred but not required
- Experience in healthcare or a related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Proficient with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, healthcare management software).
