What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sleep Technologist (Days) position at Mountainside/Hackensack?
POSITION SUMMARY
Primarily a scoring position, it also includes polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care and education. The technologist performs duties as defined for a technologist. Will be expected to cover the night shift on rare occasions.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to score sleep studies and to effectively problem-solve.
- Effective interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills.
- Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing physician and patient needs.
- Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.).
- Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations.
- Will also provide functional oversight of technician / trainee in Sleep Lab.
- Minimum of one year as a Polysomnographic Technologist with a primary role scoring polysomnograms.
