About the Role:
As the Director of Community Engagement and Development, you will be at the heart of our
organization, driving our community engagement and fundraising strategies that raise resources
and awareness about our mission. Reporting directly to CEO, you will plan and implement a
comprehensive fundraising program with the community and the people we serve at its center.
Our mission: Improve the health of Marylanders experiencing food insecurity and chronic
illness by preparing and delivering medically tailored meals and providing nutrition education,
thereby achieving racial, social, and health equity.
We are seeking a person with extensive experience in developing and implementing fundraising
strategies, donor cultivation and stewardship, planned giving, grassroots fundraising and board
engagement. The Director prioritizes time and activities based on the following allocation:
Organizational and Department Leadership: 20%
Fundraising: 60%
Communications and Volunteer Engagement: 15%
Other duties: 5%
Moveable Feast’s FY25 budget is $6.1 million. The Director of Development and Community
Engagement is responsible for individual, corporate, foundation and event fundraising totaling
just over $2 million.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead our fundraising and marketing strategy, aligning it with organizational goals and
values.
Build a community of supporters and stakeholder who donate money, volunteer hours,
in-kind donations and expertise to the organization.
Build awareness of the impact of medically tailored meals and ow our intervention
improves the lives of people with chronic illness.
Ensures that community engagement is grounded in race, equity and social justice with
an emphasis on the common good of the community.
Supports the Board of Directors to become passionate ambassadors for the
organization.
Helps create a sustainable future for the organization by creating plans to address
operational and capital needs.
What You Bring:
Five years of proven experience in a development leadership role.
A track record of success in meeting fundraising goals in fast-paced, dynamic
environments.
Deep understanding of nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in
major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and special events..
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire trust and
collaboration.
A strategic mindset with the ability to roll up your sleeves and execute operationally.
