What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gateway Climbing Program Instructor position at Movement?
Are you looking for a part-time, weekend / weekday afternoon & evening position, surrounded by a fun and dynamic climbing community? The Gateway Program Instructor position involves climbing instruction for children and adults, facilitating classes and curriculums, and maintaining a safe environment during our various climbing programs. Part Time Instructors are primarily working with newer and advanced climbers 2-4 hours per class, depending on the program. The entry pay for this position is $16 per hour.
The most important qualifications for this role are customer service, passion for teaching and working with our community, and the desire to learn and grow in the climbing community. Prior climbing experience is preferred but not required – we are excited to train individuals who are excited to learn! For the above position, you are supported by the Climbing Program Manager and Gym Director of the facility.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide a safe and controlled environment during all programs.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with clients of all ages and abilities.
• Provide excellent customer service for both children and adults.
• Teach very basic climbing skills from provided curriculums.
• Communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors about scheduling, questions & concerns, etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Have a passion for climbing, willingness to work hard, and the desire to spread their enthusiasm for the sport.
• Interest in climbing and working with various levels of climbers.
• Have a relentlessly positive and upbeat attitude.
• Prior experience working with children preferred but not required.
• Ability to work 6-10 hours per week primarily on weekday afternoons and/or weekends.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• New hires will complete a background screening process.
• Scheduled shift times may vary from week to week or month to month.
• Opportunities for strong instructors to advance into other operations and instructional positions within the gym.
