Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
- Supervise and mentor a team of employees across the Inspection, Case Prep, Machine Shop, and Welding areas.
- Schedule, assign, and prioritize daily tasks to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and quality among team members.
- Provide training and coaching to ensure employees understand and adhere to company policies, procedures, and production standards.
Process Oversight and Quality Control
- Monitor workflows and production processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of materials and finished products to maintain high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address and resolve any quality issues or defects.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies.
- Analyze production data and metrics to develop action plans for improving performance.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all team members comply with safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Stay updated on industry standards and best practices for welding, machining, and case preparation.
Communication and Collaboration
- Work closely with other departments, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Production, to ensure seamless workflow and address challenges.
- Communicate effectively with management to provide updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Torque Converter Management:
- Supervise the assembly, testing, and inspection of torque converters post-production.
- Ensure all torque converter components meet strict quality and performance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to torque converter functionality and performance.
- Work with the engineering team to implement improvements in torque converter production and testing.
Dynamometer Testing:
- Oversee the operation and calibration of dynamometers used for testing transmission and torque converter performance.
- Manage the testing process to ensure that all units meet manufacturer specifications and client requirements.
- Analyze test data and provide detailed reports on torque converter and transmission performance under various conditions.
- Identify trends or anomalies in test results and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
- Ensure all dyno testing equipment is maintained, calibrated, and updated as necessary.
Transmission Autopsy:
- Lead the post-mortem analysis (autopsy) of transmissions to identify failures or areas of concern.
- Supervise the teardown, inspection, and evaluation of transmission units to determine root causes of performance issues.
- Provide detailed reports on findings and collaborate with the engineering team to develop solutions or design improvements.
- Maintain proper documentation of all autopsy findings for future analysis and design feedback.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a Business Administration or Engineering or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of inspection processes, case preparation, machining, and welding.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools (e.g., Kaizen, 5S).
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and production management software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and machinery.
