Moxie is looking for a Controller to take ownership of our financial operations, ensuring compliance, financial health, and strategic growth. This role requires a balance between hands-on accounting work and high-level financial planning, ensuring Moxie’s financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. You’ll oversee corporate books, tax filings, financial reporting, and vendor management while optimizing financial systems and controls. You’ll also play a critical role in ensuring compliance across Moxie’s managed corporations and scaling our financial infrastructure to support rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Compliance
- Oversee Moxie’s corporate books, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and finalize Moxie’s corporate taxes and tax credits annually.
- Manage payroll reporting and ensure accurate 1099 filings and tax compliance.
- Implement and oversee internal financial controls to mitigate risks and ensure financial health.
- Sales Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee and scale sales tax reporting, invoicing, and registration of certificates across 150 managed corporations.
- Ensure compliance with all state filing requirements and maintain good standing for all entities.
- Financial Systems & Vendor Management
- Purchase and manage Moxie’s financial software toolkit to oversee P&Ls for Moxie’s partners and managed corporations.
- Lead vendor management across all departments, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with financial plans.
- Manage Ramp accounts, overseeing expenses, reimbursements, and card issuance.
- Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis
- Provide financial insights to leadership, driving strategic decision-making.
- Develop financial dashboards and reporting systems to enhance visibility into Moxie’s financial health.
- Optimize existing financial processes and introduce automation to improve efficiency.
- Financial Expert: You have deep experience in accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting in a multi-entity environment.
- Problem Solver: You can identify financial risks, implement controls, and drive efficiency in financial operations.
- Strategic Thinker: You balance hands-on accounting work with high-level financial planning and business insights.
- Tech-Savvy: You are experienced in financial software, ERP systems, and automation tools to streamline financial processes.
- Collaborative Partner: You communicate effectively with executives, department leaders, and external vendors to align financial priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification required, with experience handling complex tax filings for small businesses.
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting/finance experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience with financial software, ERP systems, and automation tools.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate financial insights effectively.
