JOB SUMMARY :
Under the general supervision of the Director of Acute Care, the Licensed Nursing Assistant for our Med / Surg Days position is responsible for performing various duties and tasks as requested under the LNA scope of practice as determined by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing.

Patient Advocacy :

Performs safety watches, 1 : 1 patient observation as assigned, completes documentation for 1 : 1 observations. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse assists with patient care activities, activities of daily living, hygiene, feeding, and patient safety initiatives. Promptly reports any observed changes in patient's condition to nurse or physicianPerforms and documents vital signs, height, weight, intake, and output and reports any changes out of range of normal, performs 12 lead EKGsObtains laboratory specimens as appropriate, i.e., finger stick glucose testing, urine specimens and transports to lab as necessaryWithin scope of practice, assists nurse / physician with clinical procedures and treatmentsCarries out roles assigned as part of the healthcare team during emergencies or resuscitation efforts (CPR, runner, order entry, documentation, etc.)Answers phone professionally with courtesy to caller, relays messages accurately and timely. Contacts other departments and agencies via phone, as requestedCross trained to perform medial unit clerical duties; computer charting, inputting orders, filing of patient chartsPerforms safe transportation of patients within the facility utilizing safe lifting and transportPerforms post-mortem care and aids in the transportation of the body to the morgueDemonstrates safe, competent use of patient care equipment, beds, stretchers, lifts, safety and alarm devices, walkers, and other equipment approved for patient careSuccessfully completed LNA II course and signed off in additional LNA II skills listQuality :
Adheres to Infection Prevention standards, consistent in hand hygiene practice before and after each patient interaction. Adheres to infection prevention precautions. Holds team members to IP and hand hygiene standards and room / patient IP precaution measuresPromptly responds to patient calls via Canfield system, assist patients and locates and relays messages to nursing personnel as patient condition / situation requiresParticipates in quality review, performance improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives within the department (such as hourly rounding). Education : Graduate from a nursing assistant program
Experience : 1 year experience as an LNA preferred, experience in a hospital acute care setting preferred. Computer literate, experience with electronic health records preferred
License and Certification : New Hampshire LNA license, BLS Certification
