Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic candidate to lead all HR and labor relations functions at a large manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for both salaried employee HR support (30%) and labor relations strategy, contract negotiations, and union partnership (70%). The ideal candidate will work closely with plant leadership and union representatives to support a productive, safe, and compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Labor Relations
- Lead and participate in contract negotiations with UAW and IBEW unions
- Ensure consistent administration of collective bargaining agreements
- Advise leadership on labor contract interpretation, grievance procedures, and discipline
- Manage grievance and arbitration processes from start to finish
- Partner with union reps to maintain effective working relationships and resolve disputes
- Stay updated on labor law and union regulations, ensuring legal compliance
- Develop and execute labor relations strategy to support business objectives
Human Resources
- Lead all HR activities for salaried employees including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations
- Manage performance reviews, coaching, and progressive discipline processes
- Facilitate succession planning, leadership development, and organizational design
- Monitor employee engagement and implement action plans based on feedback
- Support compensation planning, pay-for-performance, and HR reporting
- Act as a culture leader to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Serve as a point of contact for benefits questions and employee support
- Develop and deliver internal training on HR policies, ethics, and compliance
Leadership & Operations
- Partner with the Plant Director and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership
- Supervise and coach 1 direct report (HR/LR team member)
- Share coverage for plant operations during shutdowns or extended hours
- Represent the company in external matters including community events and legal proceedings
- Support plant-wide initiatives related to safety, productivity, and talent management
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of equivalent professional experience
- 4 years of Human Resources or Labor Relations experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
- 3 years of leadership or people management experience
- Strong understanding of employment and labor law
- Proven ability to manage sensitive situations with confidentiality and integrity

Pay: $60.00 - $68.00 per hour
