Description
Performs various types of maintenance tasks related to facility buildings, infrastructure systems, manufacturing and process equipment. Works with other team members, supervisors, engineers and contractors as needed to troubleshoot, install, remove, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and/or reinstall various types of mechanical equipment. In addition, works with above individuals to perform other industrial maintenance tasks involving electric, automation/PLC, machine shop, welding, carpentry, plumbing, piping, HVAC, hydraulics and pneumatic functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reads and interprets blueprints, technical manuals, technical drawings, schematics. Receives and comprehends verbal and written instructions in order to troubleshoot, maintain and perform required repairs.
- Conducts routine preventive maintenance activities including, but not limited to, cleaning, lubricating, changing belts, filters and bags, monitoring and maintaining pressure and fluid levels on various types of equipment including steam systems/boilers, cooling towers, heat ex-changer, compressed air and vacuum systems, HVAC units, water treatment systems, filtration, dust collection systems and ventilation systems.
- Troubleshoots, installs, removes, disassembles, repairs/rebuilds, reassembles and reinstall various types of mechanical and process equipment including, but not limited to those identified above with emphasis on electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, steam valves, belt drives, blowers, fans, bearings, shafts and compressors.
- Troubleshoots, repairs and/or replaces various hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems including control valves, relays, thermostats, pressure switches and gauges.
- Assists with the removal, repair and/or installation of water supply systems, piping, controls and fixtures.
- Assists with installation, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems and electrical control devices including AC/DC motors, motor controls, PLC controllers and other control devices.
- Utilizes required personal protective equipment and performs work in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Identifies and advises supervisor of existing or impending maintenance issues. Recommends actions and parts or materials necessary to correct problem. Procures parts/materials necessary to effect repairs or preventative measures as directed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs general carpentry duties including removal and installation of window panes, door and window hardware; removal and installation of various types of flooring including sub-flooring, tile and hardwood; rough wall and ceiling construction.
- Performs basic welding tasks including cutting and repair.
- Performs basic machining tasks utilizing drill press, lathes, milling machines.
Qualifications
- Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, technical drawings, schematics, verbal, written instructions.
- Must be able to competently perform mathematical calculations using fractions, decimals, percentages fluid and linear measures.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of operation and repair of various mechanical devices including electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, steam valves, belt drives, blowers, fans, bearings, shafts and compressors.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in at least one secondary industrial maintenance skill set (e.g. - industrial electricity, automation / PLC’s, machine shop, HVAC, welding, carpentry, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics).
- Must be proficient in the use of basic hand tools, power tools, basic machining and specific precision measurement and diagnostic equipment.
- On a regular basis, requires sustained periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing and reaching.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally,
- Must be able to work from various heights using ladders, scaffolding and powered lift equipment.
CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES
Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology or related program from an accredited technical or vocational college with an emphasis on mechanical maintenance or equivalent coursework through any combination of vocational training programs and/or military training.
Formal coursework, military training or experience in at least one of the following secondary skill sets - industrial electricity, automation / PLC’s, machine shop, HVAC, welding, carpentry, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics.
Minimum of one year experience as an industrial maintenance or multi-craft technician.
Valid Driver’s License.
