JOB SUMMARY:
MPD Components, Inc. traces its roots back over 100 years to the very beginning of electric power and the electronic age. MPD maintains a high level vertical integration in manufacturing in order to guarantee the best possible quality to our customers.
Inspect, test, audit, and perform surveillance to ensure parts, subassemblies, and finished products meet visual, dimensional, mechanical, and/or electrical specifications. Perform set up and operation of various mechanical and electrical measuring devices. Check parts while in production at multiple work stations and record results. Work from both oral and written instructions. Complete associated data forms and make applicable ERP transactions. Maintain accurate records. May includes packaging responsibilities for finished products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Setup, operate, and interpret the results of use of various electronic and/or mechanical monitoring and measuring devices. These devices include but are not limited to:
- Optical microscope
- Insulation Resistance (hi-pot) tester
- Micrometer
- Caliper
- Digital height gauge
- Plug gages
- Go-no/go gages
- Optical comparator
- Coordinate measurement machine
2. Be able to obtain, read and interpret drawings and specifications that are required to assure product quality.
3. Inspect parts, subassemblies, and/or final products for quality conformance. Interpret test and acceptance data and independently judge if a product passes or fails requirements based on product specifications, customer drawings and specifications, and Quality Control or Acceptance Test Procedure work instructions.
4. Obtain proper packing documentation and package product appropriately for shipment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate and legible records, including but not limited to, shrinkage/scrap reporting and test/inspection status.
- Understand and use sampling plans when work instructions specify.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school or equivalent education.
- Must have a good knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Must understand written work instructions & product specifications to interpret accurately and legibly record data.
- Must have good vision to inspect products, operate equipment, and perform tests. A visual acuity test is required initially, and periodically thereafter.
- Use a microscope for prolonged periods.
- Must have finger dexterity to operate gages and test equipment.
- Job requires frequent standing, lifting, stooping, bending, grasping, pinching, and reaching motions requiring two hands.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Gloves, finger cots, and safety glasses may be required.
