We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer I to join our team. This role supports the development of customer medical devices by assisting in design documentation, prototype assembly, and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with mechanical CAD work by creating and modifying basic designs
- Enter and manage design data in ERP system to ensure accuracy
- Communicate with internal and external teams to support design projects
- Participate in customer and supplier meetings as a supporting member
- Learn to interpret and apply specifications and regulatory information with guidance from engineer engineers
- Support prototype assembly and testing in house
- Work within established, as well as variable, timelines.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools.
- Assist in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) sessions
- Help maintain engineering documentation and records
- Support new product transfer to manufacturing by assisting with initial builds and documentation
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Work within established, as well as variable, timelines.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools.
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience and Training:
- Basic experience with Solidworks, coursework, internship, or co-op preferred
- Exposure to Creo is preferred by not quired
- Familiarity with Sheet metal design and basic GD&T
- Experience in medical device design preferred
- Strong computer, math and oral/written communication skills and attention to detail required
- Ability to create / read drawings
- Understand and determine basic tolerance stack up information
- Ability to speak professionally with external teams
- Basic use of hand tools
