SUMMARY
Our Knox, Indiana facility is seeking a Materials Manager with an automotive background for their manufacturing facility. The Materials Manager must have knowledge of the automotive industry and is responsible for the effective management of all materials and inventory within the organization. This includes the understanding procurement, storage, and distribution of materials in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Materials Manager will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining inventory control systems, as well as analyzing and reporting on inventory levels and trends. The candidate will formulate strategies to improve performance, should be ready to mentor team members, find ways to increase quality of customer service and implement best practices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and implement effective materials management strategies to support the organization's production and operations goals.
· Oversee the procurement of materials, including negotiating contracts with suppliers and managing the purchase order process.
· Maintain accurate inventory levels and control systems, including the use of computerized inventory management software.
· Analyze inventory data and provide regular reports on material availability, cost, and usage.
· Coordinate the storage, distribution, and delivery of materials to support production and other operational needs.
· Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and competitive pricing.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast and plan materials requirements and inventory levels.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those related to health and safety and environmental protection.
· Maintain and improve customer order management, planning, scheduling, and shipping.
PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field
· 5 years of experience in materials management, preferably within the automotive industry
· Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze and interpret data.
· Proficiency in inventory management software and systems
· Strong communication and negotiation skills
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
· Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards within the automotive industry
· High experience with customer order management (EDI and manual orders), planning, scheduling, logistics
· Purchasing experience, a plus.
This position requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Requires some evening and weekend work. Requires demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and standard industry software.
