Role Description
Seeking detail-oriented, financially adept Project Accountant to play a significant role in our company’s growth and efficiency. The Project Accountant oversees various aspects of the cost management processes for significant and smaller projects. You will report to the Controller and manage project invoices. You will also review costs, budgets and prepare financial reports. This position collaborates closely with Production Supervisors, Production Team Members, and Sales Team Members to ensure the project’s financial records and risk assessments are conducted accurately and promptly during the project’s duration. This is a full-time on-site role in Germantown, WI.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial health of multiple projects, including the development and monitoring of project budgets.
- Review budgets including labor, materials, subcontractors and other job costs.
- Prepare pre-billing reports for Sales Team Members to review.
- Prepare actual costs, working capital and tax reports.
- Review contracts to ensure that all financial terms and conditions are effectively managed.
- Manage Accounts Receivable and support Sales Team Members with collections.
- Issue invoices for Construction, Irrigation, Maintenance and Snow Departments through the Project and Service modules and ensure labor, materials, subcontractor and other job costs are costed to the accurate job scope and work order.
- Conduct regular financial analysis, identify variances, and propose appropriate actions.
- Ensure a steady cash flow by generating, auditing, and sending invoices in a timely manner.
- Assist in the development of financial forecasts and cost projections.
- Update contracts according to client requirements and report associated change order and budget amendments.
- Ensure sales tax is calculated correctly on each invoice.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Associates Degree. Preferable: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in project accounting or similar role, preferable with landscaping, construction or related trade industries.
- Proficient in accounting software, experience with ERP systems a plus.
- Ability to navigate Production and Sales Teams to complete responsibilities timely and accurately.
- Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets, financial forecasts and tax reports.
- Excellent numerical skills and keen eye for detail.
- Extensive experience in project invoicing and billing.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and liaise with external partners.
- Excellent communication skills toward effective collaboration & client services.
