MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer: Docking System Requirements and Verification to join the team on the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration.
As a Systems Engineer: Docking System Requirements and Verification you will:
- Maintain existing and help create new requirement trace tools to manage compliance, flow down, and equivalency of
program requirements to various provide and/or project requirements.
- Research program and project requirements to find docking related requirement flow down and equivalency.
- Analyze partner and provider requirements to assess conflicts, gaps, and adequate flow down and decomposition of the
NASA program requirements.
- Preparation of variances, exceptions and/or waivers to NASA requirements.
- Assist in the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans, products, and
closures.
- Prepare materials for system life cycle milestones, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design
Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and Hardware Acceptance Reviews, and Flight Readiness Reviews.
- Track vendor submitted data, such as verification closure notices, and status of NASA's review.
- Compile interface requirement content for docking systems installed on vehicles as well as between docking vehicles and
manage their implementation.
- Participate and/or lead working groups to resolve technical issues, requirement disconnects, facilitate changes, etc.
- Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues.
- Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requisition Preferences:
- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 2 - 5 years of related experience in Systems, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Knowledge of SE & I processing, methodologies, tools and technologies including model based systems engineering
- Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
- Experience working in a team environment
Proof of US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a US government background investigation.

Essential Functions
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
