Chief Financial Officer
Position Overview:
We have an outstanding opportunity for a financial leader with experience in a community bank or credit union. Our client, a private, locally owned community bank in New Haven Connecticut, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to succeed their retiring CFO.
This is more than just a financial oversight role—it’s a true leadership opportunity. The CFO will go beyond managing financial data—translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for the Board and executive team. This leader will play a key role in shaping the bank’s strategy, using financial analysis to drive decision-making and chart a path for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, asset/liability management, and treasury/investments
- Provide the CEO and Board of Directors with clear and timely financial insights
- Manage cash flow, investments, borrowing, and overall liquidity
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess financial impact
- Ensure the Investment Policy remains current and aligned with best practices
- Lead regulatory reporting, tax filings, and audits
- Develop and enforce financial policies, internal controls, and compliance measures
- Support CDFI-related activities and grant applications
- Prepare and implement CECL models
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Experience in banking or credit unions preferred
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage executive leadership and Boards of Directors
- Deep understanding of regulatory reporting, risk management, and financial compliance
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, solution-focused approach to financial leadership
