Special Assistant Attorney General : Multistate Coordination and Policy Attorney
This is a Special Assistant Attorneys General (SAAG) in the Consumer Protection Division that monitors and participates in multistate consumer protection working groups, investigations, and litigation in collaboration with other state and federal enforcers. The SAAG assesses the potential impact on Mississippi consumers and makes a recommendation on whether or not to join the matter. The SAAG monitors multiple matters at once, collaborates with other states, and completes various legal tasks including interviews, extensive document review, negotiation, motions, briefs, and preparing for depositions, while consulting with the Director at each stage. Topics include social media, pharmaceuticals, and miscellaneous topics potentially impacting MS consumers.
In addition to investigation and litigation, the attorney works with other states on policy letters, rulemaking comments to federal agencies, and the review of amicus briefs in consumer protection cases. The attorney stays fully and timely informed on major developments in consumer protection law and their effects on Mississippi. Self-motivation is essential for this position.
