ms consultants is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Accountant to become a key player in our Finance & Accounting team. In this role, you’ll partner closely with Project Managers to ensure the financial success of our client projects. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of exciting projects, all while overseeing budgeting, financial analysis, contract compliance, and project performance. What You’ll Do:
The Project Accountant will utilize existing client systems to support current and future work with respect to budgeting, financial forecasting, actual cost tracking, variance analysis, and contingency tracking. The Project Accountant will also prepare comprehensive reports to support the project manager as required.
Contract & Project Setup:
- Act as the Project Administrator to handle everything from the initial project setup to execution and closeout.
- Help define project scope and create initial schedules, ensuring everything is aligned for success from the start, assist with budgeting by ensuring that contract overhead, profit margins, and billing requirements are factored into the project’s financial framework.
Project Finance Management:
- Support Project Managers by providing timely and accurate reports on costs, schedules, and financial performance to clients and internal teams.
- Work closely with the Microsoft Dynamics Planning module to track budgets, expenditures, accurate percent completes and estimates to complete (ETC) value, ensuring financial health is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Aid Project Managers in troubleshooting and devising recovery plans for projects that fall outside the 2% profit margin goal.
Project Billing & Revenue:
- Prepare comprehensive billing packages for client review, including progress reports and status updates, to ensure transparency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to finalize billing packages and ensure all relevant documentation is submitted to clients promptly.
- Track accounts receivable and actively monitor project billing status, ensuring cash flow remains on track.
What You’ll Bring:
We are looking for someone who is an effective problem-solver with strong verbal and written communication skills that is flexible to help where needed. They will have the ability to analyze, interpret, and present financial data to project staff and clients. The individual must be pro-active, anticipating needs, and working ahead to track and consult on project costs.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in project coordination, financial tracking, contract administration, or related fields.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate needs and manage financial aspects of projects proactively.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Deltek Vision, or similar project management and financial software.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, including billing, revenue tracking, cost analysis, profitability, and forecasting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage both financial and administrative tasks efficiently
