Special Education Social Worker 

 

The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the position of Special Education Social Worker this is half-time at OHCHS and half-time at Oxford Hills Middle School.

 

Candidates must hold a valid Maine LCSW, LMSW-cc, LCPC, or LCPC-c license.

  • Must be able to build positive relationships with students and staff and work well as part of a team.  
  • Experience with children and adolescents with mental health and behavioral needs is preferred.
  • A deep understanding of child development and social emotional learning is required.

 

Reports to: Building Administrator and Director of Special Education

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The clinician will provide direct services to the general education population and students requiring such services per their IEP. The clinician will provide consultation to classroom and special education teachers to address the students’ identified social, emotional and behavioral needs.  
  • This position requires the clinician to be an active member of a special education team, engage in home/school communication and maintain accurate data and records that are relevant to planning, implementation, and evaluation of school social work services.  
  • The clinician will demonstrate the core values of service, social justice, importance of human relationships, dignity and worth of the student, integrity and competence.  The clinician will adhere to the professional ethics and values in their code of ethics as a guide to ethical decision making. 
  • The clinician will have knowledge of and comply with all local, state and federal mandates related to informed consent, privacy and confidentiality.
  • The clinician has skills and knowledge for effective clinical intervention and understands and utilizes evidenced-informed practices.

OXFORD HILLS REGION

The Oxford Hills School District (MSAD 17) comprises the towns of NorwaySouth ParisWest ParisOxfordWaterford, HarrisonHebron and Otisfield. MSAD 17 shares vocational resources and accepts students in its Oxford Hills Technical School programs from the RSU10 School District towns of Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner. Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education is located within the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

 

The Oxford Hills offer a variety of outdoor resources for anyone wishing to enjoy the region, whatever the season. The area boasts more than ten lakes and ponds for outdoor recreation, a land trust with hundreds of acres for skiing, snowshoeing, and is in close proximity to several downhill skiing areas! Community support for Oxford Hills athletics and extracurricular activities is very strong and represents the robust regional commitment to the students and schools within the district

  2. Delivering strong literacy instruction across content areas;
  3. Helping student develop skills to apply, interpret, analyze, and evaluate the vast, ever-expanding amount of information;
  4. Employing effective lesson design by adjusting to students’ personal learning needs and preferences, including appropriate technology applications.
