This new entity will provide marine and technical support to the MSC Cruises fleet within the USA region and will serve as a vital link to our MSC Cruise Management office in London. As the Manager, Medical Operations USA, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Medical Department by managing medical operations across the Americas. In this capacity, you will represent MSC Cruise Management Medical Operations, addressing regional business needs, coordinating urgent responses to medical incidents, and offering on-call assistance to shipboard teams as required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Communicates and collaborates with leadership and colleagues of the MSC Cruises Technical Department USA, and other cruise industry stakeholders, ensuring medical department compliance, effectiveness and efficiency in the American market.
- Is responsive to the directives of the General Manager, while maintaining the goals and objectives of the MSCCM Medical Operations department.
- Provides regular updates and feedback to the VP of Medical Operations.
- Coordinates with the Maritime Support Centre to manage medical incidents and participates in the Emergency Group Ashore during a major crisis as required.
- Supports medical and leadership teams by using medical expertise in situations involving clinical practice, evacuation logistics and medico-legal advice pertinent to the US market.
- Manages and supports all aspects of medical operations on Ocean Cay, including management of medical incidents and evacuations.
- Follows up crew medical cases in the US and surrounding region and provides advice on crew case management as needed.
- Provides operational support and expertise in matters related to communicable disease as required.
- Assists in tracking, controlling, and driving efficiencies in shoreside medical costs.
- Collaborates and leads special projects as determined by the VP of Medical Operations.
- Provides training specific for shipboard doctors in collaboration with the Manager of Medical Education and Performance as needed.
- Participates in the development of medical policies in collaboration with the Quality Assurance and Clinical Governance Lead.
- Travels to vessels as deemed necessary to assist with investigations, training, or significant incidents.
- Develops systems to track and report on operational activities to aid leadership in making strategic decisions.
- Carries out clinical audits of shipboard and shoreside medical facilities as necessary.
