What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at MSC: Materials | Structures | Composites?
General Ledger Oversight:
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy of all financial transactions.
Review and post daily AP and AR transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Reconciliation & Analysis:
Reconcile and maintain monthly financial schedules, including fixed assets/depreciation, inventory, and budgeted expenses.
Conduct financial data reviews to identify and address discrepancies.
Month-End Support:
Assist the Director of Finance with month-end closing procedures, including journal entries and variance analyses.
Prepare financial reports and documentation for management review.
Tax Compliance:
File monthly sales/use taxes for relevant locations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring adherence to new requirements.
Cash Flow & Payroll Management:
Monitor cash flow and manage working capital to support operational stability.
Reconcile payroll to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
Collaboration & Leadership:
Provide leadership and support to the AP/AR Specialist, fostering an efficient and collaborative team environment.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with operational objectives.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required); MBA preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience in manufacturing environments and/or DoD/government contracts is helpful but not required.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with Deltek Costpoint is helpful but not required.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
