Job Description

Job Title: Custodian-ASC

Reports To: Director of Human Resources

Department: Facilities

Location: Administrative Services Center

Summary: Performs the duties of a custodian as defined in the approved description, coordinates room preparation and cleanup for events and meetings, ensures that the building is safe, clean and sanitary, and maintains the highest levels of confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Perform and complete all custodial duties as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to; daily cleaning of restrooms, common areas and offices, trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting high-touch areas.

· Coordinate office cleaning schedules with department heads to minimize interruptions to the work day.

· Maintain the building inventory of custodial supplies, equipment, and consumables (toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, etc.). Place orders through the district warehouse as needed.

· Ensure that building doors and windows are secured daily and the alarm system is engaged at the conclusion of the business day.

· Assist with outdoor maintenance including, but not limited to; applying ice melt, removing trash and litter, cleaning exterior windows, and maintaining the entrances to the building.

· Prepare training rooms for special events and meetings. This includes moving furniture, cleaning before and after the event, and tearing down the rooms as needed.

· Adjust work hours to accommodate for special events. Specifically, board meetings (2nd & 4th Thursday of every month).

· Submit work orders on behalf of the staff at the building and follow up with the appropriate departments.

· Coordinate summer cleaning activities with the Director of Facilities & Security.

· Maintain respectful and professional communications and interactions with district administrators, staff, and patrons.

· Perform all duties in accordance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, school board policies and administrative guidelines. This includes maintaining confidential information as heard or seen throughout the building.

· Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools, Director of Human Resources, or the Director of Facilities & Security.

Additional Responsibilities may include:

· Perform inspections of building conditions (furniture, walls, floors, casework, building equipment) and report them to the Director of Facilities & Security.

· Maintain the building water softener system.

· Participate as a member of the building safety committee and assist with fire drills.

· Light maintenance throughout the building such as; ceiling tile replacement, changing light bulbs, replace sink aerators, hang frames, etc.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Word processing, Database software, CMMS

Certificates and Licenses:

Dependent upon any Federal, State or Local laws requiring certification or licensing

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration.

The employee is regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.63 - $24.58 per hour
