SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will assist the QA Manager in the administration and coordination of Quality Assurance Department activities within the Food Safety and Quality function. QA Supervisor will engage in active participation in the tasks necessary to ensure the company manufactures safe, quality products and that all products follow the Food Safety Plan and Food Defense.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Food Science preferred.
• Quality experience in FDA, USDA, GMP, SQF, HACCP, preferred.
• Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in related field, or production facility quality control.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with all departments and management.
• Proficient in MS Office Applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills to aide resolving quality issues.
• Capable of training and directing technicians, leads and production plant personnel on FDA, USDA, GMP, SQF, HACCP and general Food Safety and Food Quality procedures.
• Oversee and assist the daily workflow of QA staff on production floor.
• Responsible for assisting of training new Quality associates (including Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance Supervisors on Food Quality and Food Safety).
• Work on root cause analysis investigations for customer complaints, foreign material, and quality failures.
Monitor continuous improvements of QA Programs such as Pest Control, EMP, and Microbiological Testing.
• Assist QA Manager with disciplining employees in accordance with company policy.
• Adapt to working in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work additional hours or mandatory overtime in case of unforeseen circumstances for production.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure the safety and legality of food.
• Demonstrate proficiency with all Quality Leads and Techs.
• Duties include a combination of supervision, training, and teaching members of the Quality team and work well with Operations, Warehousing, and Sanitation departments.
• The QA Supervisor will participate in the departmental Daily Directional Setting (DDS) meetings.
• Ensure product Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance at all times.
• Educate QA team to comply with company’s safety, quality, GMP and regulatory requirements and train technicians, leads and production plant personal on plant safety and quality policies.
• Participate in MDI meetings to work closely with Production, Maintenance, Warehouse and Sanitation to address any issues related to Food Safety or Quality.
• Organize and manage the QA team’s daily work schedule.
• Ensure accurate reporting of all testing data in Datalyzer and PC.
• Review QA audits and engages with all TFT team members and positively reinforces compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
• Work closely with QA leads/techs to review and maintain PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements in the production floor. • Help perform root cause analysis investigations for customer complaints, foreign material, and quality failures and ensure CAPA’s are completed.
• Work with QA team and other departments to investigate non-conformances.
• Responsible for conducting inspection of incoming ingredients and labels to ensure they conform to specification.
• Assist with supplier evaluation procedures and forms for supplier facility audits.
• Understand production processes to be able to identify preventive controls for the Food Safety Plan or Critical Control Points for a HACCP plan.
• Assist in 3rd party, Customer, State and Federal Audits of the facility.
• Knowledge of FDA, USDA regulations, Pest Control, HACCP, RSPO, SQF, PCQI, Food Defense, and general Food Safety and Quality programs.
Understand TFT Quality Hold procedure; know how to place items on Hold when required and how to maintain QA Hold log.
• Able to review nutritional labels for new or modified products.
• Understand production specs and process standards.
• Ensure equipment testing and calibration procedures for analytical equipment used by QA team in production area, and keep up to date calibration certificates.
• Develop, Implement, Review and Maintain the SQF system and actively support the annual SQF Gap Analysis.
• Maintain micro lab reports and micro sampling plan.
• Maintain potable water and waste water sampling plan.
• Help assist investigating with product withdrawal, recall and crisis management.
• Participate in R&D Sensory Evaluations of products as required.
• Works closely with Purchasing, R&D, and Marketing team to ensure customer data, and certifications are up to date.
• Backup to QA Techs, QA Leads and QA Manager when needed.
• Performs other duties assigned as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, train, and provide direction to QA Techs and QA Leads.
• Review time clock activity and issue weekly personnel schedule.
• Assist the QA Manager/Director in the review team members annually against the Quality Skills Matrix.
