MSX is seeking an individual who will be responsible to assess and create the career strategy for Service Technicians moving through the Dealer Service industry. Day to Day Responsibilities
- Counsel with dealers, GM Field staff, and others on technician pipelines
- Work with Non-ASE accredited Schools and local dealerships to enroll them in the GM Service Technical Automotive Readiness Training (START)
Meet with the students and attend career fairs with a dealer partner
Assist introducing dealerships to local high schools & studentsEnroll the school in the GM START programWork with the school administration, sponsoring dealer and the ASE organization to pursue ASE accreditationWork with ASE accredited Schools and local dealerships to enroll them in the GM Service Technical Education Program (STEP)Meet with the students and attend career fairs with a dealer partner
Assist introducing dealerships to local high schools & studentsLeverage the ASE “Adopt a School” playbook to build dealer / school relationshipEnroll the school in the GM STEP programWhere applicable encourage dealership sponsorships to the local ASEP schoolLeverage the ASE Educational Foundation Field team to identify schools and programsMake dealer contacts with the ASE Education Foundation Field Manager to promote interest in the program
Identify each high school / career center in the region that had an automotive program touch base as appropriateWork with GM ASEP and GM Dealers to market the program in the areaMeet with the department chairperson to go over the school obligations and to make sure they were following the business model
Visit each GM ASEP college in the region on a regular basisLink adopted STEP schools with the ASEP schoolAttend local GM ASEP advisory board meetings, ensure dealer partners and field team members are supportingAttend GM ASEP college graduations and present at commencementAssist in the ASEP vehicle down donation process between GM, STEP schools, and DealersAttend GM Parts & Service Managers Club Meetings raise awareness for GM ASEP, GM STEP, GM START and other programs help attain dealer sponsorship for studentsSupport GM field teams with technician recruiting presentations or eventsAttend local vocational schools media event around grand openings or vehicle donationsSupport adhoc events where technician recruiting is taking place (Car Shows, Racing, TechForce Foundation events)Utilize, introduce and encourage the usage of the Automotive Technician Retention Playbook (Hot Spot tool) with DealersPromote GM recognition programs such as Mark of Excellence and Technician ExcellenceAssist in placement of Shifting Gears Military program graduatesAssist in placement of UTI graduatesPromote interest in SkillsUSAWork with Dealerships to build local partnerships at schoolsDevelop relationships with Dealership personnel that are engaged in technician recruiting and sourcing in order to fill openings as neededAct as an advocate for GM and its Dealerships with accredited schools and leverage these partnerships to create a new pipelineTwo of the main responsibilities may include school adoptions into ASEP program and number of recruits sourced to DealershipsContinue to work with Dealerships on Technician job postings if needed, leveraging the work from the current GM-MSX pilotThe Field Technician Recruiting Specialists will work within the Regions with a dotted line into the Manager – Technician Environment and Service Technical TrainingThe Field Technician Recruiting Specialists will provide engagement status to all key stakeholdersQualifications : Qualifications
Candidate must be a self-starter and have a great degree of flexibility as the focus may shift from building foundational relationships with schools and Dealers to building a pipeline of candidates for the futureBusiness travel within the region is expectedStrong ability to work and communicate effectively with her / his team and peers within the Dealership / Educational organization.Strong ability to be self-directed and work independently, with strong organization and documentation skills.Skilled with common workplace and database software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, Power Point, etc.).Experience with ASE / ASEP automotive training programs.Develop presentations for executive management summarizing data collection and process recommendations.Social media and network savvy.Skilled with mobile apps and vehicle connection through mobile app utilization.Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.Qualifications / experience within Automotive Dealership Service / Support preferred.Must be fluent in English (additional foreign languages a plus / possible requirement for position).Additional Information
