Maine School Administrative District 75 (MSAD 75) is seeking a dedicated Long-term Substitute Science Teacher at Mt. Ararat High School to join our vibrant educational community. Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.
DATES: August, 2025 through Mid-February, 2026
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instruct secondary science courses, especially including 9th physical science class.
- Develop and provide instruction in earth and space science concepts such as formation of the universe, plate tectonics, and climate and environmental impacts.
- Collaborate with Mt. Ararat staff to implement existing curriculum in assigned courses.
- Maintain and develop assessments to support students in demonstrating rigorous content knowledge within math.
- Collaborate with colleagues, the department leader, school administrators and RtI specialists to ensure students receive adequate support.
- Manage classroom behavior and support learning for students of varying age ranges and backgrounds.
- Provide meaningful communication with families in support of student learning.
- Participate in professional work associated with curriculum development, planning, and assessment.
- Support and participate in non-instructional duties and other responsibilities, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science-related field.
- Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification in Science (6-12): 350 Physical Science and/or 395 Life Science.
- Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
- Demonstrated success in previous teaching experience.
- Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards
- Knowledge of/experience with: best practices in science instruction, curriculum planning, and assessment.
