Tennis/Racket Center Maintenance Superintendent (Full Time)

The position will remain open until filled.

REPORTS TO:  TENNIS/RACKET CENTER MANAGER 

GIVES DIRECTION TO:  TENNIS/RACKET CENTER MAINTENANCE STAFF 

FLSA STATUS:  NON-EXEMPT (Eligible for overtime pay)

NATURE OF WORK 

The Tennis/Racket Center Maintenance Superintendent conducts the daily maintenance of the Mt. Lebanon Tennis/Racket Center buildings, grounds, and equipment. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

• Maintenance of tennis courts, platform tennis courts, bocce courts, tennis bubbles, shrubs, flowers, buildings, grounds, and fences. This includes all chemical applications. 
• Trains, schedules, and supervises part-time maintenance employees. 
• Works in conjunction with the Tennis/Racket Center Manager on construction projects, tennis court renovations and major equipment purchases. 
• Assists with related bids, quotes, and purchases of maintenance services, supplies and equipment. 
• Assists with installing and removing the bubbles annually. 
• Coordinates daily court maintenance and plans and assists with annual Har-Tru court renewal contract. 
• Operates, maintains, and repairs tennis center equipment.  
• Operates, maintains, and repairs the tennis court irrigation system. 
• Provides pesticide management and turf assistance at other municipal recreation facilities. 
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed. 
• Assists with special events when needed. 
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance. 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

• Assists with recreation department activities and special events as needed. 
• Perform all other related work as required. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

• Knowledge of clay court construction, maintenance and operation. (Training available to the successful applicant).  
• Basic understanding of the game of tennis and the tennis industry preferred.
• Clear understanding of all tennis court maintenance procedures. (Training available to the successful applicant). 
• Clear understanding of turf management and weed control.
• Clear understanding of tennis court equipment repair and preventative maintenance. (Training available to the successful applicant). 
• Clear understanding of basic building maintenance.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE 

• High school diploma or G.E.D. 
• Minimum of three years of responsible experience in Har-Tru tennis court maintenance preferred. 
• Certified Public Commercial pesticide license in the State of Pennsylvania-PA
• Department of Agriculture Category 7 Lawn and Turf. (Certification may be obtained within six months of hire).
