What are the responsibilities and job description for the Snow Removal Loader Operator (Part-Time/On-Call) position at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Snow Removal Operator is responsible for the operation of Caterpillar front end loaders or skid steers used for the purpose of removing snow and preparing parking operations for employees and guest.
Applicants must have experience in snow removal and front loader operation. Snowcat experience is a plus. This position has 2 shifts, the AM crew is called in each time it snows more than a few inches with the shift starting between midnight and 2am depending on storm timing, this shift ends when all the snow is cleared from the lots which could vary significantly depending on snowfall amounts. The PM shift starts at 4:30PM, this is a supplemental shift that only gets called in when the resort accumulates significant daytime snowfall and shift ends at midnight or 2AM depending on what time the AM shift is scheduled. This position starts at $21hr.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Driving experience in extremely snowy and icy conditions on mountain roads preferred.
- Must have basic experience in operating front loaders
- Excellent English speaking skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Snow removal with front end loaders or skid steer
- Snowcat experience is a plus
- Must be situationally aware and safety minded
- Able to think outside of the box
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safe operation of front-end loaders with buckets and blades, as well as Snow cats to include impeccable driving habits.
- Operator should be constantly alert and aware of their surroundings, both on the highway and in the parking lot, and be able to have a quick reaction time in unpredictable situations.
- Regular inspection of loader to ensure that everything is working properly.
- Maintenance of fluid levels, tire pressure, interior and exterior lights and signals and safety equipment of the loader.
- Report any suspicious mechanical issues or abnormal performance to vehicle maintenance department.
- Shovel any necessary areas to ensure customer and staff safety
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Any other duties that may contribute to the cleanliness, orderliness and overall efficiency of the entire operations and all of the tasks contained therein.
