JOB SUMMARY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Tutorial Services Specialist position located at our campus in Menifee, CA. Under the direction of the Dean of Instruction or designated administrator and the general leadership of the Learning Resource Center Coordinators, the Tutorial Services Specialist (TSS) coordinates services for a campus wide online and face to face peer tutor program by screening, recommending, hiring, and training tutors. The TSS will also provide oversight, schedule tutor coverage in learning centers, and participate in the day to day operations of the Learning Resource Centers, as it pertains to tutoring and academic support services. The incumbent provides administrative support services to the center that include, but are not limited to, scheduling of tutors / student workers, timesheet processing and approval, records, reports, and works with administrative assistants and coordinators to ensure appropriate budgets are utilized.
- This position serves District-Wide; applicants may be assigned to any district facility. Work hours and worksite locations are subject to change depending on department needs.
- A six-month probationary period must be successfully completed before the selected candidate is considered a permanent employee of the district.

Coordinate, oversee and participate in the day-to-day operations of the Learning Resource Centers and tutoring / academic support servicesRecruit, review, and evaluate tutorial applicants for all academic support centersAssist with oversight and functions of the LRC including but not limited to guiding tutors and student workersAssist with tutor training and develop training materials that emphasize inclusive, equitable, and student-centered tutoring practicesAssist with the operation and organization of all tutorial services and act as a point of contact when faculty coordinators are not present or availableImplement, monitor and provide feedback on peer tutors and tutorial programsAct as a mentor to students and tutorsUpdate the Learning Center web page and CMS organization (Including creation of and monitoring of Continuing Education Units), create marketing materials, and design and implement outreach efforts to studentsAssist in developing and updating the on-line tutoring programAnalyze data and schedule to optimize tutors for the amount of student traffic in labs and demand for subject are tutoringAid in the collecting, analyzing and reporting data for appropriate apportionment and college / state-wide needsPersonally tutor students on an as needed basis and in areas of qualification that may include but are not limited to basic math, the sciences, ESL, writing and English skillsConduct orientations for peer tutors on policies and procedures of the Learning Center and provide orientation on all instructional support materials and equipment available to studentsAssist at the front desk as neededKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An Associate's degree (attach transcripts) in social science, education (or a related field English, Math, Science); ANDTwo (2) years of professional experience relating to students in an educational environment; ANDDemonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staffBefore scanning attachments, remove / redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, and photographSUBSTITUTIONS

Substitutions for the professional experience requirement are allowed, as follows :
College level coursework in a non-job related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience on the basis of one (1) year of college education for six (6) months of experience.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Evidence of work experience in a community college setting, especially in blended learning spaces such as academic learning support centers and librariesDemonstrated knowledge and experience developing and implementing programs and services that serve diverse student populationsEvidence and experience leading and collaborating with faculty, staff and students to provide academic support servicesDemonstrated knowledge and experience with tutoring methodologies and learning support strategies such as supplemental instruction, embedded tutoring, and peer led tutoring.Experience with data collection, including developing and analyzing assessment tools for reporting purposes.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
