Treatment Specialist - Behavioral Health
Join Management & Training Corporation (MTC) as a Treatment Specialist - Behavioral Health and make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. As a Treatment Specialist, you will be responsible for providing didactic sessions, presenting education and life skills classes, and maintaining a Therapeutic Community within the facility. Your role will be to guide and assist offenders in complying with facility rules and regulations, while also monitoring their behavior and reporting incidents to the appropriate treatment team staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides didactic sessions according to designated curricula within the program.
- Presents education and life skills classes to assist offenders with basic education on these topics.
- Maintains a Therapeutic Community (TC) within the facility working closely with correctional staff to create a living environment that is peer driven.
- Guides and assists offenders in complying with facility rules and regulations.
- Monitors offender behavior and reports incidents, inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED).
- Associate's degree in the field of psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, education, nursing, or health is preferred; related experience is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs preferred.
- A valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
- Must successfully complete the following training programs: TDCJ Approved Correctional Awareness Training (CAT), Training for Trainers (T4T), and Cognitive Intervention Programming (CIP).
- Within 180 days of employment, must have a letter of registration as a Cl from the Texas Department of State Health Services or certification as a CCJP-A as approved by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals.
- Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
