Job Summary
We seek a VP of Engineering who excels in team building, leadership, and execution. This role is crucial in scaling our engineering team, ensuring efficient internal communication, and removing obstacles to maximize engineer success.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead a diverse engineering team to achieve excellence.
- Develop a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Implement performance management processes and oversee talent development.
- Scale a high-performing engineering team of 50 engineers.
Recruitment & Talent Development:
- Oversight of the recruitment process to attract top engineering talent.
- Close collaboration with HR to develop and execute strategies for talent acquisition and retention.
- Establish mentorship programs and continuous learning initiatives.
Project Delivery & Operational Excellence:
- Ensure efficient project delivery aligning with company goals and timelines.
- Implement processes and best practices to optimize development workflows.
- Identify and remove obstacles hindering team productivity and project delivery.
Internal Communication & Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary liaison between engineering teams and other departments.
- Collaborate with the CTO on strategic initiatives and technical direction.
- Facilitate cross-functional initiatives to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts.
Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively identify and resolve operational issues and technical roadblocks.
- Promote a culture of open communication and problem-solving.
- Monitor key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Architect highly scalable cloud-based systems.
- Establish enterprise-grade engineering best practices for scalability, security, and performance.
- Assist in shaping the company's technical strategy.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable engineering plans.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- MBA (with tech focus)
- MS in Computer Science/Software Engineering
Additonal Certifications:
- AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications
- TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture certifications
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
Experience:
- 10 years of engineering leadership experience
- Proven experience managing engineering functions with a focus on standards development, transformation, and performance review processes
- Strong background in leading technical teams and delivering engineering solutions that drive process improvements and compliance
Skills:
- Expertise in engineering standards, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
- Strong leadership and team development abilities, with experience fostering innovation and continuous improvement
