**MTR Carbon Capture Position Summary**
MTR Carbon Capture is a new division of MTR that manages and offers membrane-based carbon capture processes. We are seeking a highly motivated senior mechanical engineer to work with our talented engineers and researchers.
This position will involve supporting carbon capture projects, selecting plant equipment, designing new equipment, and commissioning in the field.
Key Responsibilities
• Generate, review, and comment on technical documents such as P&ID, process flow diagrams, equipment data sheets, general arrangement drawings, and 3D models.
• Specify, review, and comment on process equipment sizing, selection, and arrangement, including gas blowers/turbofans, compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, dryers, cooling equipment, and pressure vessels.
• Work with equipment vendors to evaluate and size process equipment, compare technologies, and identify the best equipment for the application.
• Participate in project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical support and guidance to carbon capture projects and engineering studies.
• Participate in risk assessments such as Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), or other risk assessments.
• Assist in developing commissioning and start-up procedures for carbon capture plants.
• Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on fabricated equipment or skidded systems.
• Design membrane carbon capture system designs that meet client requirements using engineering skills and best practices.
• Derive potential solutions to engineering problems and recommend suitable options using analytical skills and engineering judgment.
• Collaborate with QHSE, procurement, manufacturing, and quality functions.
Qualifications
• 8-12 years of industrial project or plant engineering technical experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Organized and timely performance.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
• Ability to work remotely effectively.
• Experience in risk identification and management.
• Familiarity with common process design practices and related engineering elements.
• Knowledge of engineering practices, codes, and standards in key regions.
• Mastery of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Design justification via analysis, calculations, and simulations.
• Proficiency in mechanical engineering/design software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
• Ability to offer and receive constructive feedback.
Preferred Skills
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in power, cement/lime plants, petrochemical/refinery, steel plants, or related industries.
• Previous employment at an EPC, EPCm, major modular fabricator, or major plant constructor.
• Experience in rotating equipment (fans, compressors, and pumps) industry.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certificate or equivalent.
• Experience resolving project issues in the field, participating in HAZOPs, and assisting with commissioning activities.
