DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Communicate with related departments, such as medical and nursing, to optimize nutrition care and monitoring of food quality and delivery.
Counsel patients and families on diet as assigned.
Monitor the effectiveness and outcome of nutrition services and interventions and answer or refer questions regarding patient nutritional care to the clinical dietitian.
Regularly conduct patient rounds to review adequacy of nutrition intake and patient satisfaction with meals and meal service.
Rescreen all patients not determined to be at risk for malnutrition upon admission but with a length of stay greater than 5 days to assure all patients at risk for malnutrition are assessed by a dietitian.
Adjust menu selections from patients at Missouri Psychiatric Center (MUPC) to comply with diet order and dietitian instructions.
May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in nutrition or dietetics, or admission in a coordinated or didactic dietetic program, or Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs. and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. This role may also routinely come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
