  • Base Pay Range : $16.68 - $26.31per hour, based on experience
  • Shift Differentials : Additional $0.70 per hour for the night shift and $1.00 per hour for weekends.

  • DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Telemetry Monitoring Technician provides customer-focused telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms to ensure the prompt and accurate delivery of care vital to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, suspected arrhythmias, drug intervention per floor with need for observation, and potential of life-threatening cardiac events. Initiates code and rapid response teams for patients at risk of death or serious harm. Collaborates with health care providers to initiate, monitor, and communicate findings during video monitoring of patients at risk of harm due to medical conditions. Assists with delivery and maintenance of inventory, including inventory storage, cleaning, and troubleshooting.

    Establishes and maintains accuracy and proficiency in the analysis and interpretation of ECG rhythms, spo2 waveforms, and other vital signs, as set by physician orders, which are used to monitor patients' overall medical condition. Preserves records within the cardiac monitoring system for access by the treatment team. Conducts ongoing surveillance of patient ECG rhythms. Surveillance may also include blood pressure, spo2 level, respiratory rate, and Co2 level, depending on the acuity level. Responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of patient conditions and communicating to RNs and clinicians with immediate notification of changes in cardiac rhythms. Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns, current patterns, and prior variances. Admits, transfers, and discharges patients and enters all required information in the telemetry monitoring system. Observes assigned monitors continuously and responds to alarms promptly and appropriately. Acts as preceptor and mentor to new monitor technicians.

    Provides brief, focused education to nursing staff to promote an understanding of cardiac rhythms. Initiates telemetry monitoring via delivery and attachment of telemetry monitoring equipment, or in conjunction with the Care Team Associate (CTA) or RN. Maintains a shift call log documenting communications related to unresolved escalations of vital signs and other conditions. Maintains inventory, including storage, ordering, troubleshooting of faulty equipment, and disinfection procedures. Assists in daily operations, contributing to an ongoing high level of customer satisfaction, safety, and experience. May complete unit / department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Associate's degree or trade school equivalent. Healthcare experience. Additional license / certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
