AREA: Speech Language Pathologist
REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services, Principal

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
Provides instruction and therapy to students with speech and language needs. Provides consultation and assists general classroom teachers in helping students with speech and language challenges.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Whitefish Public Schools seeks candidates with strong character, passion for excellence and a relentless commitment to student achievement. Applicants should also meet the following requirements);
- Eligible for Valid Montana Licensure
- Master's degree or equivalent with a major in Speech Pathology.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with children with disabilities.

- Conducts a screening program to identify learners with speech/language impairments
- Implement and follow the referral process as outlined by School District 44
- Administer and interpret appropriate assessments.
- Provide professional development in identifying speech/language impairments
- Attend child study team meetings as requested
- Participate in developing appropriate I.E.P.'s
- Develop individualized educational programs for speech/language remediation and monitor same
- Develop an effective schedule for speech/language therapy
- Maintain records and reports necessary to provide and monitor an effective speech/language program
- Integrate goals and objectives into regular program
- Establish a parent/school inter-relationship in working with speech/language impaired learners
- Carry out directives of supervisor(s)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds. School year working days as set by the Board of Trustees. Salary, benefits and other working conditions as negotiated by the WEA and as assigned by the Administration.
