SUMMARY
The Journeyman Millwright installs and maintains machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawing specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Reads and interpret blueprints, schematic and detailed repair drawings related to construction equipment and machinery; determining work procedures
- Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
- Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools
- Constructs foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials; such as wood, cement, and steel
- Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
- Grind and file machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances
- May repair and lubricate machines and equipment
- Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of the essential duties
- Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential duties
- Drive a vehicle to various jobsites throughout working hours a. Maintain valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company policy
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance
- Perform other duties as assigned

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position because it includes as part of the job duties operating a motor vehicle, the operating, maintaining, and monitoring of heavy equipment and machinery, and working with and around hazardous materials, at heights, and in confined spaces. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of the employee and others, the employee must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while operating a motor vehicle, operating, maintaining, and monitoring heavy equipment and machinery, and while working with and around hazardous materials, at heights, and in confined spaces.
