Position Summary

The Manager of Professional Billing Coding is responsible for overseeing all professional coding activities performed by the coding team, comprised of employed and contracted coders, for ambulatory clinics across the entire health system. The Manager plans, organizes, and controls the activities of coders; monitors the accuracy of diagnosis and procedure coding as documented by the provider/physician to ensure accurate reporting of services for appropriate reimbursement capture; establishes and provides physician coding in-services; develops/revises coding policy; participates in coding/documentation audits; provides coding expertise for physician practices and ancillary services and assures corporate compliance goals are met. Hospital-based leaders may have a dual matrixed reporting structure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of post high-school education and 4 years of recent relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirement
  • Coding credential required (RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC)
  • Five (5) years coding experience in hospital and/or professional coding in team environment setting
  • Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity
  • Experience working in computerized coding environment

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $73,121.00 - $105,244.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
