The Opportunity: The Outdoor Department at Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a dynamic Outdoor Supervisor to lead our vibrant outdoor programs. As the Outdoor Supervisor, you will oversee a range of exciting programs, including walking and hiking, cycling, and outdoor/summer camps. Your role will encompass program development, marketing, staff management, and the nurturing of a team of outdoor guides and ride leaders. What You'll Contribute: Leadership: You will directly supervise outdoor guides, cycling ride leaders, and hiking leaders. This includes scheduling, training, and daily work assignments. Program Management: Coordinate camps, classes, clinics, trips, and events both on and off-site. You'll be responsible for planning, scheduling, staffing, promoting, and evaluating these offerings. Safety: Maintain safety standards, perform regular equipment checks, and identify and prevent potentially dangerous situations. Budget Management: Manage part of the Outdoor Department's annual operating budget in collaboration with the Outdoor Manager. Outdoor Expertise: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, ensuring that instructors and guides are well-informed. Community Engagement: Maintain a positive, outgoing image and utilize interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with members, guests, and the public of all ages. Qualifications: At least 5 years of experience managing in an outdoor environment or a related field. Strong administration and communication skills to manage multiple projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with preferred experience in NorthStar and Rock Gym Pro. Demonstrated outdoor guiding experience, including backcountry expertise. Current AED, CPR, and WFA certifications, with WFR preferred. Proficiency in risk management and creating risk management plans. Ability to interact positively with a variety of people in various circumstances. Demonstrated professional and courteous communication skills with an emphasis on customer/member service. Understanding and implementation of Leave No Trace principles. Certifications from accredited organizations are preferred.
