Job Overview:
Mumm Napa seeks a highly skilled and motivated Grape Harvest Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the Viticulture Department, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our grape harvest season.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A strong understanding of viticulture fundamentals, including planting, physiology of vines, nutrients, pest, and diseases, is essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate grape maturity in grower and estate vineyards.
• Conduct regular vineyard visits to monitor and sample grape maturity during the harvest season.
• Record pertinent information and update files as necessary.
• Communicate with the Grower Relations Team regarding conditions such as vine health, damage from pests, Powdery Mildew, Botrytis, etc.
• Perform data entry into and work with Excel spreadsheets.
• Assist with cluster counts and cluster weights to help with crop estimates.
• Check on individual vineyard(s) grape harvesting as needed for quality control.
• Assist with collection, verification, and filing of required reports needed from growers, i.e., Pre-harvest pest reports.
• Special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Over 21 years of age.
• Safe driving record with valid California Driver's License.
• Comfortable driving on dirt roads and in vineyard terrain.
• Strong understanding of viticulture fundamentals or ability to learn: planting, physiology of vine, nutrients, pest, and diseases.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Physical endurance: be able to work outdoors in different terrains and climates.
• Computer literate: basic level of Microsoft Excel & Word.
