Facilities Assistant

Position Summary: Facility safety, ongoing maintenance facility safety and lawn maintenance

Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions and corresponding tasks of this position.

1. Must have an eye for facility safety, ongoing maintenance and cleanliness, and preventative maintenance.

2. Be safety minded

3. Must be detail-oriented.

4. Must possess a basic understanding and knowledge of all buildings, structures, foundations, framing, and how the distribution of utilities, such as gas, water, electrical supply and HVAC systems operate within.

5. Must be able to operate various lawn equipment (weed eater, edger, and various mowers)

6. Must be able to identify issues such as broken equipment, maintenance needs, or guest complaints, and take appropriate actions to address them.

7. 1 years of successful, recent work experience, demonstrating, dependability and a strong work ethic

8. A valid Indiana Driver’s License and ability to be insured by Muncie Mission’s auto insurance policy.

Essential Duties but not limited to:

1. Assists the Director of Facilities in the daily management and supervision of Facilities and Housekeeping services as directed or assigned

2. Communicates with vendors and maintenance service providers concerning the routine

3. Be knowledgeable of emergency telephone numbers and how to access staff when necessary

4. Cleans outside of facilities including plowing/shoveling and salt lots as needed

5. Work closely with the staff, program participants, and volunteers to maintain cleanliness, perform preventative maintenance, renovation, and expansion of Mission facilities and properties.

6. Provide for the safety of all buildings by ensuring regularly scheduled fire extinguisher inspections.

7. Inspect and charge emergency lights in all buildings

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

· Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift and climb stairs.

· Physical dexterity sufficient to operate gas-powered equipment such as power sprayers, snow blowers, and lawnmowers. Must also be able to operate industrial appliances such as washing and drying machines and electric or manual cleaning equipment.

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

· Endurance to remain standing or walking for long periods of time

Required Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma

· Strong administrative and organizational skills.

· Experience with technology.

Background Investigation and Drug Testing:

1. After a “conditional offer of employment” is made, the individual must pass a background investigation, which includes a consumer credit investigation report.

2. Muncie Mission Ministries may request the successful applicant to submit to and pass a drug and /or alcohol test. This drug and/or alcohol testing may occur any time after the applicant receives a conditional offer of employment.

3. All employees must sign and adhere to MMM Drug and Alcohol policy and remain free from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.

Expected Hours:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Travel:

There may be travel involved to and from different MMM sites and events.
