What are the responsibilities and job description for the Victim Advocate position at Muncie Police Department?
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
To work closely with victims of violent crimes in all facets of the Criminal Justice System to ensure that their rights are acknowledged and respected in accordance with the Victim's Rights
as stated in the Indiana code.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Working with clients in all aspects of the criminal justice system (courts, prosecutor, police, probation, etc.).
2. Compiling and maintaining data on each client.
3. Assisting clients in filing for victim compensation through the State.
4. Public speaking to community groups regarding Victim Advocate Services..
5. Sharing on-call time with other staff.
6. Ability to perform crisis intervention with clients suffering trauma.
7. Accompany clients to court hearings and helping them understand the purpose of each type of hearing.
8. Performing any other victim assistance related duties as advised by the prosecutor or police staff.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All contact with all clients will be kept confidential and all employees will be expected to sign a statement of confidentiality understanding that they will be terminated if confidentiality is violated.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
