What are the responsibilities and job description for the Storm Drainage Worker IIB position at Municipal Development?
Position Summary
Participate in the construction, maintenance and repair of the City's storm drainage system; clean storm drainage structures and sites of dirt and debris, operate light to heavy general maintenance and storm sewer cleaning equipment, and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
This is a Training and Certification Program position.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
High school diploma or GED; and
One (1) year of general construction, landscaping, and/or maintenance experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid Class A CDL within six (6) months from date of hire
Must successfully complete the Storm Drainage Worker Training and Certification Program Level II within the Program timeframe.Must meet all Storm Drainage Worker Training and Certification Program Level II requirements within the Program timeframe.
Preferred Knowledge
- Methods and techniques related to the installation of lines, manholes, arroyo floors, valley gutters, sidewalks and curbs
- Methods and techniques of heavy construction and earth moving work
- Methods and techniques of concrete form building, pouring and finishing
- Operational characteristics of storm drainage system maintenance equipment and tools
- Materials, equipment and tools common to storm drainage system construction
- Principals of routine equipment preventative maintenance & repair techniques and practices
- Basic storm drainage system construction, maintenance and repair techniques
- Specialized storm sewer system cleaning equipment
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Learn to independently perform the full array of drainage system construction, maintenance and repair tasks
- Learn operations of specialized storm drainage sewer cleaning equipment and practices
- Operate a variety of heavy construction and storm drainage system maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Perform all construction, maintenance and repair duties in accordance with applicable construction codes and City rules and ordinances
- Participate in and assist with all construction, maintenance and repair duties in accordance with City rules and ordinances
- Observe all traffic laws, codes and City ordinances
- Assist with snow removal operations as assigned
- Utilize prescribed radio procedures to communicate with field and base personnel
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Accurately log all construction equipment used
- Effectively use and maintain a variety of small equipment including concrete saws, jack hammers, chain saws, tampers, spray equipment, pumps and concrete tools
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate clearly and concisely
