What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Maintenance Technician position at Municipal District Services?
Position Overview
Performs scheduled and emergency maintenance and repair duties associated with the operation of a water or wastewater facilities. Has working knowledge of required procedures, equipment and operating standards and is able to resolve minor routine problems. Reports to the Facility Operations Supervisor and requires minimal guidance to perform task.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains facilities by scheduling and performing preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, clarifiers along with other facility equipment.
- Investigate and perform minor repairs at facilities.
- Perform task using the proper hand tools or power tools.
- Record tasks performed and enter data electronically in a Tablet.
- On call duty required for emergency repairs when needed.
- Might require knowledge in the use of a crane truck.
- Remove and replace hatches on GST’s and HPT’s safely
- Perform task such as replacing gate valves and check valves.
- Perform other duties that are assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School or GED
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Have good communication skills
- Recommend achieving water and wastewater certifications

- Have a mechanical background and skills maintaining mechanical systems and tools.
- Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Be safety and environmentally conscious and follow all required safety and environmental procedures.
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work on structures elevated 20 plus feet.Work Environment
- Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
