What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Coordinator position at Municipal Employees' Retirement System of Michigan?
Business Development Support
- Maintains and updates the business development SharePoint site for consistency and accuracy
- Monitors requests and data received from internal stakeholders related to business development activities and routes accordingly
- Works with Business Development Manager to implement identified strategies and priorities.
- Coordinates business development activities including Request for Proposal (“RFP”), fee benchmarking, benefit comparisons, and retention proposals. This includes coordinating with interested stakeholder, gathering required data, and compiling responses that meet MERS communication standards
- Tracks business development activities to monitor success and identify areas of improvement
- Analyzes market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth
- Supports sales activities such as the development of advertising/promotional campaigns
Legislative Support
- Tracks and summarizes bills from the Michigan house and senate and provides details to Governmental Affairs Director
- Creates new legislator profiles to help the legislators understand who has MERS in their own district
- Creates and updates legislative candidate bios to identify potential connections with MERS
Customer Support
- Fosters strong working relationships with internal and external teams to facilitate successful delivery of programs and initiatives
- Works in partnership with functional areas concerning plans, activities, projected and other work-related activities
- Coordinates with external vendors based to collect data and materials used to support business development activities
Other
- Continually update the Business Development Manager concerning all plans, activities, projects, and other work-related activities
- Participates in special projects as required, and other duties as assigned
- Participates in meetings, conferences, and training seminars as required
Knowledge of:
- Public sector retirement plans, including finance and investment concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
