The Equipment Operator safely operates maintenance and upkeep of farm and farm machinery as needed on a daily basis.

Position Responsibilities:
Safely operate assigned farm machinery on a daily basis.
Report safety issues and concerns to management in a timely manner.
Responsible for general machine maintenance such as greasing, changing blades, checking chain tensions, checking tire pressures, checking for worn bearings, checking fluid levels etc.
Keeps the yard neat, clean and orderly and free of debris allowing for safe operation of equipment.
.Weigh pallets of sod and relay weights to Harvest Manager/Harvester Operator.
Load sod for customers by hand and with forklift.
Stages sod neatly in an accessible area with forklift.
Must maintain a neat and clean working area.
Ability to make judgment calls on what to adjust on the machine during mowing to maintain Munie Sod quality standards.
Appropriately sprays chemicals as directed by Farm Management.
Appropriately spreads fertilizer as directed by Farm Management.
Helps diagnose equipment issues and determine appropriate maintenance work.
Harvest:
Maintains quality standards set by harvest manager to ensure all pallets are stacked neatly, all rolls are of good quality, and pallets are within weight range.
Ability to make judgment calls on what to adjust on the machine (cutting depth, down pressure, conveyor speed) during harvest to maintain Buy Sod quality standards.
Works with Farm Management to ensure quality sod during the harvest process and ensures all sod going on the pallet meets quality standards.
Position Requirements:
Must have experience operating complex farm equipment.
Must have CDL A or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude.
2-5 years’ experience in a similar role required.
Valid State Driver’s License with clean driving record.
Valid Pesticide License or ability to obtain within 60 days.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Ability to communicate equipment issues and understand job assignments.
Ability to discern what issues need to be brought to upper management.
Must have the ability to complete tasks properly with minimal supervision.
Ability to work flexible hours to include, but not limited to, early AM/PM, nights and weekends and hours that could fluctuate day-to-day.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions required.
Ability to lift, push, pull heavy materials (50 1bs) frequently.
Additional pay available commensurate with education/experience.
