What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager- Landscape Construction position at Munie Greencare Professionals?
SUMMARY OF POSITION
You will oversee and manage crews on site preparation, grading, sod installation, seeding, irrigation installation and service, drainage, erosion control, landscaping, and/or design and consultation services. You will work in conjunction with the management team to set budgets and sales goals for the department and be a key communication point between customers, management, and employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Enforces compliance of personnel with administrative policies
· Lead and mentor staff and support teams
· Ensure all work is being performed in adherence with safety policies and procedures, placing safety of self and employees above everything else
· Adheres to operational, sales, and financial goals
· Lead construction teams and keep them motivated and focused on the job
· Be a communication point between employees, management of other departments, and customer
· Be accurate in meeting deadlines
· Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion
· Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
· Oversee all onsite and offsite work to monitor compliance with safety regulations
· Select tools, materials, and equipment and track inventory
· Meet contractual conditions of performance
· Review the work progress on a daily basis
· Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
· Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
· Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts, and obtain permits and licenses
· Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks
· Ensure quality standards and the proper use of equipment
· Remain organized while planning for large-scale, multi-step projects
· Know how to operate complex equipment to aid in completing jobs in an efficient manner
· Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines
· Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites
· Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with safety codes and other regulations
· Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, and sub-contractors
· Direct and supervise workers
· Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project
· Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects
· Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports
· Develop and implement quality control programs
· Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites
· Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
· Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems
· Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out
· Evaluate labor methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK CONDITIONS
· Ability to stand, walk, and sit unassisted for up to 12 hours per day
· Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
· Ability to work 50-65 hours per week through peak season
· Ability to work up to 6 days per week
KNOWLEDGEE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
· Good communication skills
· Highly motivated/excellent work ethic required
· Proven management or other relevant experience
· Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
· Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects at one time while paying strict attention to detail
· Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
· Basic understanding of plant disorders, potential mechanical difficulties, and/or other knowledge particular to area of specific projects
· Proficiency in spoken and written English
· Knowledge of proper general estimating procedures
· Ability to effectively communicate, prepare clear and concise reports, and to make presentations
· Strong understanding of financial and management applications
· Working knowledge of Microsoft systems
As the Construction Manager, other duties may be assigned to you and changed from time to time by or under the authority of the President.
