Job Summary
The Operations Accounting Analyst will complete all accounting and reporting requirements for the Canadian non-operated property including preparing royalty submissions and analysis, as well as process improvement/automation projects across the Operations Accounting functions for the Canadian assets.
Responsibilities
Complete financial accounting for the related properties, including monthly accounting entries and reporting
Complete and evaluate royalty submission and maintain an ongoing understanding of royalty calculations to determine the accounting implications
Complete monthly financial variance analysis including but not limited to balance sheet and income statement, monthly reconciliations for all required accounts
Coordinate with other internal groups to review and interpret property activities to ensure appropriate accounting treatment
Develop, document and implement appropriate processes and controls.
Liaison with other owners and government to address property related issues
Review, analyze and interpret various agreements (royalty, marketing, etc.) to determine accounting implications
Review and monitor Operator’s financial reports to determine implications on monthly accounting forecasts
Provide support with monthly estimates, forecasts and budgets
Ensure all accounting is in accordance with SOX compliance
Work with Finance group to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of transactions
Process Improvement projects as assigned by Manager
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Science, or other relevant discipline
Minimum 5 years’ experience in operational oil and gas accounting knowledge
Experience with contract/regulatory review and interpretation
Background in month end and quarterly reporting, as well as monthly analysis and account reconciliations
Experience with Excel, SAP, Power BI
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Offshore Oil and Gas Accounting experience
Experience in process improvement/Excel modeling/SQL/VBA
