Job Summary
The Production & Revenue Accounting Analyst - International will be responsible for production, revenue, and regulatory accounting for Murphy Oil's assets in Alberta and British Columbia. The role entails collaboration with departments such as Land, Operations, Field Data Capture, Marketing, as well as external engagement with third party producers, midstream entities, and regulatory agencies. This position will report to the International Accounting Manager within Murphy's Operations Accounting Organization. Responsibilities will initially cover revenue accounting support and may progress over time to also include support for production and / or royalty accounting areas. The analyst will also work on projects to optimize process and system inefficiencies.
This role will be in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
- Ensure monthly invoice generation and analysis for all product receivables (oil, gas and NGLs) as well as distribution for cheque exchange is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Prepare netback calculations for all products
- Allocate revenue to areas by product to pass to production accounting for booking
- Work with the Finance group to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of transactions
- Prepare, analyze, reconcile various accounts and clear Revenue A / R balances
- Handle month end and quarterly reporting activities, including pricing analysis, inventory gains / losses, other financial variance analysis
- Ensure maintenance of all key processes and documentation
- Assist with Accounting system initiatives and issues (maintenance, interface and data related)
- Interpret Operational results in the context of business operations and identify problem areas and / or opportunities
- Liaison between Marketing, Treasury, Operations, Land, Field Data Capture, etc.
- Ensure all accounting is SOX compliant
- Special projects as assigned by Manager

Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous / extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
